I picked this up recently at a local thrift store; it isn't really my kind of thing, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it before it goes out the door.
It is multi-peice silk, 37" x 67". The blue field is almost purple in color. Passed the silk test (burned frayed thread reduced to ash, smelled like burned hair). It is attached to a 2 peice hardwood pole (only one section shown in the pic) with brass spearpoint finial and midsection.
I assume that it is unusual to have flags made of actual silk nowadays, so this is likely of some vintage. Anyone have a clue as to how old this might be? Is the spearpoint finial indicative of anything? Would it be acceptable to remove the flag from the pole and sell it seperately, or should they stay together?
