    Caterpillar badge grouping

This is my first venture into British medals
Joseph Alfred Walker served in the RAFVR as part of 51 Squadron, flying Whitley Z6487 (MH-G) bombers. He was discharged on 19/07/45.He was a Warrant Officer,Wireless Operator/Air.
He was shot down whilst flying in his Whitley bomber over Frankfurt and deployed his parachute. He was captured and served the remainder of the War as a POW.He was held in Camps 9c,L6 and 357 which was in Poland. There is a chance that he may have been involved in one of the marches.
The pilot died and the rest of the crew,4,I believe were captured.
The picture shows him (back row 2nd right) at one of the camps.
He was awarded the Caterpillar badge, shown here with its original box.
I have a letter of provenance from his widow, from whom I aquired these items, for which I thank her unconditionally. She recently aquired his 39-45 star and the war medal from the Government as he did not apply for them.Unfortunately WO Walker is not entitled to the Air Crew Europe medal.
I hope you enjoy. These types of men are exactly that..MEN.
    Regards,Ivan

                      Hello,
last year I have spoke with two witnesses.
We analyzed old maps. My time witness told me he would be at night almost stumbled over a crew member. It was the pilot Thomas. He now lies buried in Sage. At the military cemetery. My witness was a child pulled the wing with a horse to a scrap dealer. He got 300DM. Today, the crash site is overbuilt. A large food factory is there. The plane crashed in Addrup near Cloppenburg. The cemetery is located approximately 30km. Are there more pictures of the crew.
The mission was not Frankfurt! I think this is a mistake. The mission was Hannover.
                      Kind regards
                      Volker Urbansky Cloppenburg
