What a fine mess, thanks to Jelle my purchase price is exposed $375 CDN. And also now wrongfully accused of misleading info in ebay auction.

Sure was a mistake to post it here. All I wanted was a confirmation of the helmet as WW2.

Firstly, I have removed the e bay link to this sale. This to me smacks of grandstanding merely to bring this helmet to a wider sales audience. This is not allowed under forum rules. If you wish to sell here, please become an association member, cost is $25 per annum and list it via the E Stand. Thank you.

Any item posted here for discussion is fair game and I feel it has been discussed enough for members to determine what it is.

      Cheers, Ade.

I understand you are upset that your auction has been hurt by this thread. All I did was check your feedback, something every buyer should do!Hiverdiche put this helmet up without a starting price or reserve and let the buyer decide what its worth to them,in this case you.Now you decide to sell it again as you have found a better exsample, trying to make a very nice profit on it and using this forum and members as part of your ebayauction to do so.I geuss you have learned that was a mistake. You asked for opinions on your sale and that is what you got.

        regards Johan

Your intent was not nice. You wanted to wreck my auction, be some kinda hero when you don't know the facts. Call me out as a liar. And why because you had to apologise for giving 2 different statements regarding BMB dates.

WEll that helmet is a FRANCE find. His FB record on his France purchase shows no info as it's now past 60 days. But you can look and see he bought from France a month or 2 before selling it.

NOv 19/08. Look it up big mouth.

Just because the helmet was bought from France doesn't mean that it was left behind. There are many collectors in France who also buy from around the world. I can buy Japanese items from France but I have a strange feeling that they weren't left behind either.

I said it could have been left behind. Not that it was infact left behind. Because I don't know that forsure.

"You don't know the whole story so keep your 2 cents out until you know more. I never said it left behind forsure. " PM from Kelly sch

No, you just said that it was a France find. Found in 2009 no doubt. I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I am just stating that just because something comes from France doesn't mean that it was left behind by the troops. I have a large collection of Afrikakorps but I can only say with certainty that two pieces were a definite Afrika bring back by an Australian soldier and a tunic taken home by a German. If I tried to imply otherwise of any other piece then I would be a liar as I don't know. I can't even for certain say that many pieces were actually used in that theatre because I don't know and they were used in other theatres.

As for your helmet, well it isn't for me because I wouldn't consider it to be a typical WW2 used piece.

You know Kelly, there's only one person running their mouth round here and It's you!

I actually heavily edited my first post to you as I thought It was a little strong and I could have been mistaken about your intent. Similarly, til your latest Input, I thought this thread was being a bit harsh and actually contemplated defending you and giving you the benefit of the doubt. It now seems I was completely correct In my Initial thoughts; to paraphrase I said you were taking the piss If you expected members here to help you with your sale and back up your ebay bullsh1t.

This type of behaviour Is one of the reasons I don't collect this stuff any more; Arrogant, know nothings who want established collectors to praise their purchases. Then when the novelty wears off (usually about 12 to 18 months), They can sell their Items on for a massive profit stating they have been blessed by those at the top of the game.

I hope I am wrong In my assesment and that you just made a mistake but then I don't really give a sh1t one way or the other so It's not me you need to convince. As a new collector though do you really think It's a good Idea to go In all guns blazing? some years ago I did a similar thing re- pathfinder badges and was soon torn to pieces by Alan H and co. At the time I was a trifle angry and resentful but It did teach me a valuable lesson and upon reflection those guys were right, I needed a reaming to bring me down to earth. So rather than hating everyone, use this experiece and try to go forward. You will find the majority of established collectors here are very tolerant af beginners and will always give credit where It's due.

                  Guy.

I will not have this kind of behaiviour on this forum. I have had to warn you in the past about insults. No more please.

                    Cheers, Ade.

I just want to thank all for contributing to this thread with either good or bad opinions on the helmet.

You guys have given me useful collecting tips so far.

I can't spend anymore time on this defending this helmet or my reputation as a collector and seller.

I simply don't understand what is messed, wrecked or not nice? The fact that your're trying to make a profit? Big deal, everybody wants that.
