    Maroon beret

Greetings: I have an oportunity to purchase the following maroon beret for $250.00. Having never handled these "elusive" items, and being the markings have long worn off the interior, I request the assistance of the experts to help authenticate this as WW2 before I purchase it. It is in rough condition but following the information set forth in this forum, I believe it is good. That being said I would very much appreciate if the heavyweights would wade in and share their expertise and knowledge by expressing their opinion. Thank you all for your consideration in repling .
    Best Regards
    Zeke

Hi Zeke , A nice original wartime beret with a real salty appearance at a very good price IMO
I would certainly buy it at that price.

Greetings Greg: Thank you for the reply. I greatly appreciate it.The material looks correct and my "gut feeling" was good by looking at the construction and wear of it, but it's always nice to have the approval by the experts. All the best!
                      Regards

Personally I would like to see the light stitching or tacking around the inside holding the hessian in place but, correct me if I'm wrong, some berets didn't have this.

Hi Mark, If you look at pic7 I think you can just see a thread to the left of the Leather patch.

It looks a little bit more like a shadow from a crease to me Greg.

Now Mark, put your glasses on and look past the crease shadow approx 4 cm to the left from the corner of the leather patch there is a definate thread reflecting light. I've just cleaned my screen to make sure there wasn't something on the face of it. Then again it might just be a hair. But still the beret looks good to me it might help Zeke if you could do another couple of interia pics.
