Please help ID this cased Royal Navy Badge.

Something I picked up today. I have no experience with British badges but this seemed to be worthwhile for the low price I got it for. Then again it may be of no value.

What is this? What era? Any value?

    The case:

    The front:

    The back:

It has an inscription on the back. It seems to be L.L.M. Sterling.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a sweetheart brooch given to wives and girlfriends. Like those below....................

For someone who started out collecting this past September it is doing a lot more good than harm I can tell you Already saved me some cash.

BTW would this brooch be WWII era or were the sweetheart brooches given out during other conflicts as well?

              Thank you for the info.

Apparently the mark in the rear is maker LLM and the brooch is made of Sterling Silver.

I believe this would be a Royal Navy sweetheart pin, pre 1952 due to the King's Crown.

                  Thank you.

Now please, for someone who has no knowledge is this area, how does one see that it is the King's crown? How would post 1952 badges be identified?

Hi, Kings vs Queens Crown. I will illustrate with these two Canadian cap badges. On the left is a Queens Crown, right is the Kings. Note the shapes.

                    Cheers, Ade.
