What unit is this badge for?

This is a fairly large badge and my first thought was that it was for a shako but I suppose it could also be for a cartridge box or similar. All help is greatly appreciated!

The badge is to the Royal Scots Fuileers and , IMHO, almost certainly for a busby (bearskin). They were that size (large) to cover the base of the plume and show up against the fur.

Sorry, can't say anything useful about the period, as most Fusileers and Grenadiers kept at least some bearskins well into the 20th century for parade dress even after they disappeared as regular headdress.

Second post as my other response was lost in the crash. Anyway, that is indeed a badge to the Royal Scots Fusiliers, but not for the dress fur cap. It is a common OR's (enlisted mans) badge as worn on the Glengarry and tam'o shanter. The badge has a Kings crown and was worn by the regiment from circa1902 to around 1953.

Many thanks for the responses. I suppose it could have been used on the tam or Glengarry. It just looked out of proportion compared to other cap badges I have seen.

On a separate note I only recall one Commonwealth Gard regiment that wears a cap badge on a Bearskin and that is the R22 or the Van-doos. Is that true??
