    F.A.N.Y Helmet-Unusual Hand-painted Decals

This is a strange and unusual F.A.N.Y Helmet. It has three hand painted decals and possibly was sent back at some time to the UK from overseas. The pictures I think will do the talking, thoughts and opinions welcome. Regards, Clive.

Front hand-painted decal, clearly non-regulation. Was this a F.A.N.Y detachment or possibly a sailing club!?

Underside of helmet. Note the paper stuck to the liner, possibly the remains of wrapping, and the Postage (?) Stamps.

The maroon cross is normally associated with the Wiltshire Regt. so maybe a link there.

Fany wan't QEII a member during the war?

they still exist by the way

                          http://www.fany.org.uk/about_research.html

They might even have info on the owner of the helmet

Very odd history will SOE spooks, very odd sparks. Lots of history and almost completely unknown.

ran into a bunch once in France up in the Alps, Very odd I though as the had French army guides and SAS types with them and the training they were doing would give even the hardest RM Commando the willies.

                            Paper on liner

Nothing unusual about finding paper stuck on the liner. This was often used to prevent the helmets sticking together while stacked on top of each other in storage. But as can be seen it didn't work to well. Cheers The Frog!
