Hi Frank, the ACME whistle is the most common British made whitsle you will ever find. Used by the forces as well as anyone else who might need a whistle.

The ATS insignia is a shoulder title worn on the service dress jacket by women. See my wife's website for some in wear:

Crown is a rank insignia, most likely one used by a staff Sgt.

            Cheers, Ade.

thank You Adrian, There was also a silver ring with some writing around the inside edge. found out it was made out of a coin (shilling) also a zippo lighter with a few war time coins attatched to it. The real buy was a Colt mod. 1911A1 manufactured in 1943. I think I am going to keep it all together and make a nice display out of it

The "2" is the US Second Army Group, the "A" is the 3rd AG and the cloverleaf is the 4th AG. The badge with the diagnols, which should run top right to bottom left, represents the US 3rd Infantry Division "Marne", with the three white stripes symbolizing their number and the blue representing the infantry. Presumably souvenirs of meetings with Yanks.

The coins on the lighter are Dutch.... so he might have been in the Netherlands too !
