British tropical tunic? strange buttons

Hi is this a british tunic and are the buttons correct,yesterday I bought a suitcase that had been placed in a loft at the end of the war,amongst the items was this tunic.The soldier a sergeant with the Berkshire Yeomanry in 1945 was sent to Malaya as part of operation zipper,also in the case were two shirts is their a market for these items? Not as issued but adding football buttons are a classic way to smarten up a uniform.

I have one tunic (8th army officer) and one officer's tropical shirt, both private purchase, and both with the same type of buttons.

The buttons you normally find on officers uniforms, even including Greatcoats.

Are they more common of field or service uniforms?
As I wrote I have one tunic with such buttons, it is well used and reparied.
