Unknown canvas bag!

Hi guys,
This bag was included in a vets grouping that I picked up. I have no idea as to it's use.
It has a rope on the one end and a metal clip on the other. Could it be some kind of artillery muzzle cover?

Length is 17", diameter of the opening is 12".

Yes I think it is a muzzle cover. Slightly different construction to my 1942 example I have in my garage which is made from heavy webbing material and has more substantial draw strings. I keep one of my best saw's in it.
