    1970's vintage SAS badge?

    Hello all,

i have a question relating to the following SAS badge that has been purchased by a collector friend of mine as a representative example.

I have searched the forum and read in a post or two that these one piece brass badges were produced in the 1970's by the firm on the reverse, sadly the posts had no attached images to compare with this one.

The only images i have are the original auction pair which were sent onto me after the fact so to speak.

Can anyone perhaps confirm the seventies vintage on these, and were they even military issue?

    Thanks for your time,

    Patrick.

I wish that were true since I have one of those badges, be it with unmarked slider but exactly the same coloured solder. Sadly these are fantasy items, the SAS did not ever wear a die struck all brass badge in its entire history.

Here is my fantasy badge, be it of slighty better quality, but there is no way Gaunt would leave sloppy pink coloured flux on any of their badges.

I would suggest if your friend wants to buy a modern SAS cap badge in metal he goes for an Anodised badge which was worn by the Territorial SAS and Australian SAS.
