    thoughts on this cap

    Hi:

Any thoughts on this cap? Appears to be WW1 or pre WW2. When would such a cap be used, given the khaki cover? There is also a plastic sweatshield, is this correct?

    Thanks.

It looks like it was made in the 30's. Given the flat-topped shape, the style of the gold bullion cap badge and the thickness of the oakleaves around the brim. A Beautiful Cap! One I'd scoop up in a heartbeat based on looks alone.

This is a colonel's or brigadier's forage cap, with a khaki cover; is the cover removeable?. I believe it could date from just prior WWI, to the 1930's. Looks to be in great shape for it's age. Any owner's name inside?

I concur, a very nice staff officers forage cap, complete with hot weather cover as well.
Sadly the construction of these caps is almost word for word, as listed in the 1911 dress regs and 1934 dress regs. As such without a name, it makes it almost impossible to put an exact date on it.
However the makers lable can sometimes give clues as to a issue date. I have also found buttons can give a clue, especially in regards to the makers information on the reverse.
With the limited photos you have posted, I would take a guess at late 1930s myself.
I would like to see more pictures, especially with the cover removed.
            Cheers
            Brent
