    RA Maroon Beret

Bought this rather splendid example this week, arguably some would think twice when buy this late war date, although when such a example comes with it's original insignia one can't pick & choose.

Probably been mentioned before but has anyone noticed a manufacturing difference in the "rounded" stitching that surrounds the manufactures date/details, on 1943, 1944 examples I've seen this is square?

I doesn't have the classic Kangol hand sitting around the rim nor can I find trace of any.

Hi Scott, that looks like a fine beret. The absence of the hand stitching around the inside is a bit strange, but it is fragile and possibly removed by a previous owner. There's no real harm in removing the stitching as it only had a job during the manufacturing process.
The more rounded stitching around the stamoings can be found on earlier dates as well. It doesn't have a significance I believe, perhaps it was the result of a high work load.

              Cheers, Luc

Very nice beret Scott, has a nice un-mucked with look about it. I have a high quality officers 45 dated Kangol also with the stitching absent and as I cant find any evidence of ever having the stitching beleave this to of been ommitted during production probably due to its late date. All other details are the same as my four earlier dated kangols. Other than the cap having a smaller flap/shape as common with officer berets.

                  Cheers Greg

                    Thanks for the kind comments.

Greg, I would agree it appears an officers example.
