RN Sword Belt What time period?

    Hello guys,

I bought this at an estate auction a few days ago and was wondering wht the time fram is. The stamp on the belt plate is I believe CS&S though it could be a GS&S.

    Cheers

        Gary,
The Crown surmounting the anchor is a King's Crown.
This design was introduced in 1901, so could be Edward VII, George V or George VI.
The only way to get a better time period would be to trace the name of the retailer from local trade directories.
Could be anytime between 1901 and 1953 when Queen Elizabeth came to the throne and the design of the crown changed again.
This is a Naval Officer full dress belt.
        Hope this helps.
        Regards,
        Ray.

          It is the kings crown.

Here are a couple of early examples

Here is an RAF sword belt with the same pattern.

I have googled Walton&Co, Gosport, with no hits, I was in Gosport high street recently and don't remember seeing this particular shop!? This is not unusual in itself as Naval tailors are few and far between in the main Naval ports nowadays.

Thanks guy's, I knew it was pre 1953 but didn't know when the pattern was adopted. My guess is it's pre WWII and maybe even pre WWI based on the sword that came with it. The sword was made by the German firm of WK&C.

              Cheers
