    British or South African tan helmet?

    I need some help with this helmet,is this a british helmet used in the desert war or a South african?,I have been looking at the other thread about these helmet,and I decided to give this a try,this one is dated 1942.

          It looks to me like a South African shell (three holes and paint job are dead on) fitted with a British liner. -Lee

            Shell is South African and in good original condition, three holes and crappy attachment of mounting point for chinstrap are characteristic. Not sure about the liner I thought 'C.C.L.' was British maker? Most of the S.A. liners I've seen have had the early circular crown pad rivetted in, but made of felt rather than foam.

              I agree 100% with what has been said here, A very fine looking example of a South African made helmet, with a British liner.
