    VIII RECCE Cap badge

    Hi everyone,

I've been desperately looking for years now to find a VIII RECCE Cap badge, as this Regiment liberated my hometown in April 1945...
Does anyone of you knows where to find one? (any dealer who sells them?)
I mean a repro, as I gave up my dream to own a original example years ago....

I think I saw a repro a while back on eBay selling for $200...I am looking for a more cheaper one....

Any ideas on where to look????

Just to confirm I am looking for the right unit. Is this it?

8 Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars).

    Cheers, Ade.

By a very happy chance I happen to be in the same hotel when they had their last, and sadly final, reunion in 06.

There are very few left and shrinking every day.

here is their last reunion site

            http://members.shaw.ca/the8recce/

and the present regiment that honour and perpetuate (unofficially) their traditions

if I remember correctly the Rocky Mountain Ranges had a carrier in 8th recce livery in their armory in Kamloops, BC.

              Thanks for all the replies!

I am familiar with the regiment, and I sometimes receive their Newsletters.
I'm also in contact with a few veterans, I personally met one VIII RECCE veteran in Apeldoorn in 2005, and have been in contact with him since, but since his wife (who did all the writing for him) passed away last year things have become really quiet...

I'm also in contact with a Lieutenant who commanded the troops that liberated my hometown in April 1945, who promised me to write down what happened here on that particular day, on which unfortenately one Trooper (Sgt. L.A. Mace) died...

I write them occaisonally but the correspondence is extremely slow...I wrote them both in Dec. last year and am still awaiting their replies...

seems it is made from the original you might be able to get one off them rather than Ebay

                    Thank you for the link!

About the cap badges on eBay, I unfortenately was outbid in the last minute. The badges sold for $102.50, which I think is rather expensive for two reproductions from which the nicest one (with the gold overlay) was missing both the lugs.

I did manage to buy the VIII Recce shoulder title from the same seller, though I am not sure whether it is an original example or not...

Post a picture of the rear when you have it.
That can tell a lot if it is real or not.
