Canadian trouser braces

I have this Canadian Y strap , but i think for military police..
I think
This is good ? correct ? for MP ?

They are a pair of bracers used to hold up the trousers they are attached to the two sets of buttons on the front and single set on the back of the trousers worn over the shirt and under the jacket.

No, "POLICE" indicates a brand -or qualitymark.......

They MIGHT have been used by a provost, but are NOT specially made for the MP.

These trouser-braces are known in the Netherlands as "firebrigade and police braces" due to their good quality.

Like the others said there are Braces or suspender (NA word our brit friends will have a giggle over that one) used by many a Canadian solider from WWI up till today. I used them all the time was back in the 80s

Police was a brand and still is as far as I know and are still made. Check out a fishing gear shop they are usually sold for use with hip waders.

These have a C broad arrow mark (not a good one IMHO) but that means nothing the could of been yesterday or 90 years ago.

They would no be out of place holding up any era battle dress trousers

Hi Eric, "IMHO" = "In my honest opinion".

I would agree that the C broad arrow stamp is very suspect.

Stick to buying an issue pair of braces.

Hi Eric, I have edited the thread title to make it better to find in any future search on the forum.

These braces would be OK to use for an Officer's display, as Officers bought their items privately.

But the addition of that stamp is suspect. "Police" appears to be a trade name as already pointed out.

I'm not sure why the C broad arrow on these braces is suspect. Similar braces with the same Police marked adjustment pieces were issued in the Canadian military until just a few years ago. I was issued a pair in 1990. The Canadian military has a long tradition of issuing commercially available items, unlike the British military who seem to have just about everything made specifically for military contracts. That being said, I can not confirm or deny that the braces shown are original WW2 or early post war issue, but to me it is perfectly plausible. I have a set of WW2 era long underwear issued by the Canadian army and they are typical civilian underwear with the addition of the C broad arrow acceptance / property stamp. This is not unusual with Canadian military kit.

And yes, I agree that the Police mark does not indicate anything specific as to who would have used them. I have also seen similar braces stamped Fire.

Anway the suspender would be historically acrurrate on any Canadain uniform during the war period,

I still don't see the difference.... it's just a partial stamping which again is quite common.... IMO it's much easier to find a poorly stamped piece of Canadian kit than one with a perfectly formed, clear C broad arrow stamp.

I have to agree, I have a few pieces with partial stamps that look similar to the one shown.
