Brit lid values ?

Hello guys

Just to get an idea of value, as I have someone who would like to trade.

First up is a pit helmet, good shape, no chinstrap, dated 1942

Motorcycle messenger helmet, dated 1942 or 1943, mint, unissued

Turtle shell helmet with strap, good condition and liner too dated 1945.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Pith helmet don't know, not usually very sought after though. Don R helmet depends but £60-80 for mint steel type. Turtle depends if it's Mk.3 or Mk.4, £60-80 for Mk.3, £20-30 for Mk.4. pics. would really need to see pics. though.

Also there are differences between NZ and UK/EU markets. I checked several times trademe.co.nz and some items are well overpriced in NZ.
Maybe it is only on the online market?

Good point, I should point out my estimates are approximate for UK non E-Bay market, I have no idea what the New Zealand market is like though with global commerce I think British prices plus say 20-30% to equal Internaional shipping is 'fair'.

Hi Guys

I am an avid watcher of lids on the New Zealand trade-me site.
Lately there have been several piths that have achieved high prices.
The last listing was a 1939 bombay bowler. This went for a very high price as it was correctly badged and with unit insignia on the side. These were generally only used by the original echalons that left NZ. Following reinforcements used later dated piths without insignia.
Other piths, mainly WW1, have also achieved good prices.
My reasoning is that people have seen these rare piths sell, not understanding why they have obtained high prices, and then bid ridiculos prices on the typically common type piths.
Mark, there are over 70 different types of pith helmets.
It would be easier to value if I had a picture. You can PM me with pictures if you like.
