    Unknown Helmet

I need help identifying this helmet. It appears to be a British MkI or MkII, however there is no liner and no means to attatch one ( No hole in the top). There was a foam rubber pad in the centre and what seems to be a foam head band.
The centre pad has almost dissapeared (liquified).
Then there is the strap mounts , a single rivet hole and also four further rivet holes. On closer inspection they both appear to have been used at some time.
The shell has a very light covering of grey, probably a primer.
    Any ideas folks?
    Mahy Thanks
    Steve

British, production for the civil defence during ww2, lower quality steel, not for use by army (indicated by 4 holes drilled), Likely magnetic (could you check it).
Interesting and less common version of the liner, common was MKI*/MKII liner.

Yes, it's a Mark II no 2 D used by the civil defense during WW2...

B, C, D civil defense helmets were painted in light grey, A version was painted in black...

The four holes are there in order to dicern easily a combat helmet to a defense helmet.
