    Canadian Childs Gasmask

    hello

I thought I would post some pictures of the Canadian version of the Childs Gas Mask, as you probably all know the UK version is a red face mask with blue filter and alloy eye piece rims, I picked this up at a local antique market, probably not that rare but I was just taken by the difference in colour scheme

interesting aswell, this one is dated 1943

    Thanks

Very interesting. Thanks for showing it John.
BTW, you can also find the British version in blue rubber, though they are rare.

      Regards,
      Steve

Honnestly, when I see those things, and the small size, it is just
Lucky thing they never had to be used in WW2.

Great history behind them as well. I remember reading someplace the change from blue to red so it look less scary to young children.

The red bing the same colour as Micky-mouse's pants

I also remember seeing a picture of one that was just like Micky mouse's face? I will see if I can find the pic

          here is the link

The Americans sure went to town with their version of the "Mickey Mouse" gasmask. The Brits never went to such lengths.
This is as far as it went:

            The tins are very rare.

yes, JL scary to think the people thought that such a threat existed, even in Canada,
Interesting to hear there was also a blue mask aswell, I shall have to keep my eye out. I imagine the Canadian one's came in a few different types like the UK ones, larger filters etc

That is a very nice TIN you have Steve for your mask ! very unique, have to look out for one of those !

                All the best

                John
