I agree - the marks on the blade edges are not "saw teeth", which were after all a pioneer tool, not a calculated atrocity to use on people. British sawbacks had one jagges edge with teeth like a modern crosscut saw.
I aslo don't think it's British - the long spring and shape of the pommel look French to me and don't match the relatively few British brass hilted bayonets I recall or can find in a quick search of the Net.

You know its a 1847 Brunswick sword bayonet worth about 150 pounds even in that condition? Was that your question?
It would of been worth a lot more if someone hadnt hacked the blade. My dad seams to think its worth more than my 150 quote, but I`m sticking with it.Last edited by yellow; 01-20-2008, 12:28 PM.
