4 Army - The Phantom Army

I just picked up a medal to Chief of the Imperial Staff for WW2. It says he commanded 4 Army a unit employed in decieving the Germans on allied strength and invasion targets.

Are these the chaps with the blow up tanks? Need help from WW2 special units experts on explaining what they did, I couldnt find anything on Google?

    Thanks,

    Steve.

        Hi Ade,

        Thats just the ticket!

Oh and the medal I have is to Roderick Macleod DSO MC who commanded the army. It would appear he was an expert with artillery.

        Thank you,

        Steve.

Yes, I have heard something about that before. This is a very interesting subject. There have been a few good TV docs which covered Brit 4th Army and FUSAG.

          Cheers, Ade.
