    my Cap Badge Collection

    Hi guys

as im sure you can see i am posting up most of my collection i have regarding WW2

if anyone could shed any light on the below cap badges i would appreciate it,

i know what a few are due to them being in the family but most are unknown

I know the Home Guard and thats about it to be honest

if any are rare i would be interested to know, i know very little about the rarity of items of WW2 i just have a keen interest in it .

    thanks

    Jim

    I am guessing here...

Durham Light Infantry (Pre-1952), London Regiment (??), Irish Guards, Royal Corps of Transport (now Royal Logistics Corps), Home Guard, Pioneer Corps, Somerset Light Infantry, Lapel Badge (British Legion ??), Northamptonshire Regiment, Northamptonshire Regiment, Scottish Clan Badge, Lapel Badge (same as above), Welch Regiment, Royal Artillery, Pioneer Corps, Somerset Light Infantry, Lapel badges (Parachute Regiment, not sure what OCA stands for), Royal Artillery and not sure what the other one is.

No doubt there are some mistakes there so please don't flame me

I think you will find that the rarest badge there is the small red over blue shield. A better image would be nice.

The badge listed above as Royal Corps of Transport is not, it is Royal Engineers, post c1954.

thanks for the replies guys, very informative

the small red and blue badge was given to me by my grandfather, the number on it read as this going down are the number 103 going across is 202 in a formation like this
        ..1
        .202
        ..3
his name was Arthur Parsons, During the war he was Living in Cheddar (Somerset) and was commissioned to join a secret regiment, below is a recent artical before he dies, he didnt receive any medals until a few years back, he also had to keep his secrecy until then, not even my nan knew of his actions during the war or 50 years later until he was allowed to chat about it

sorry if you cannot read it very well, its a newspaper cutting onto my scanner

The small shield shaped badge is for members of the Auxiliary Units, our British Resistants or Stay Behind Units. I am not certain if they were awarded at the time of "Stand Down" or actually during time of service, I think probably the former. There are a number of books on the subject of the Aux Units (The last Ditch by Lampe for one) also a website for the excellent Museum at Parham, a Google seach will soon find this. The badge is hard to come by, even more so with the superb history that you have Regards, Clive.

The two British Legion pins are, in fact, ROYAL British Legion pins. The "Royal" and the QE crown was added in 1971.
