    Mike,

    If you can get your hands on "The Royal Air Force 1939-1945" Osprey Men-at-Arms, you will find an excellent photo of the beret being worn by RAF Regiment personnel somewhere in South-East Asia, probably 1945. The officer on the far right has the small separate eagle and crown combination on his beret.

      The Armourer magazine also did a D-Day invasion cover with an RAF chap wearing a denison smock and blue beret.
