Order of Battle - British and Canadian forces on D-day

    Dear Sirs.

I'm looking for at detailed Order of Battle for the British and Canadian forces on D-day (Royal Marine Commando, 1st and 4th Special Service Brigade, British 3rd division, Canadian 3rd and British 50th). By detailed I mean how many men and how much equipment ect.

Hours on the internet have not helped me a lot. Anyone know where I can find the info I need?

You best bet for the actual stuff delivered on D-day would be found in the National archives in Ottawa and what you would want to look for is the Loading log and or actual log all the HMCS ships present on that day.

You could also look at the nominal rolls of the various regiments that were prepared that day. I have seen part of one and it was quite detailed right down to who which section would sit on what side of a LCA

Also all the boarding and off loading orders I think still exist for most of the various units involved.
