Picked up a nice early Navy good conduct. Can any one tell
me what the engraving stands for. W.J HARRIS, COMMD. BTMN. H.M.COAST

Sounds to me like you have a Royal Navy Long Servive Medal named to a Commissioned Boatman of Her Majesties Coast Guard.

When you say early, I assume you mean young head Queen Victoria?
