New Zealand camo WW II uniforms

    Hello,
A friend of mine just got these beauties here in New Caledonia.
These are WW II New Zealand locally hand camo uniforms (and hat).
They were found in the house of his grand mother in the village where were based NZ and US troops.
Here is the first tunic (another one and a hat will follow).
    Comments and additionnal info welcome.
As far as we know these camo were used by the NZ commandos units.
    Hope you like them.
    Cheers
    Phil

The soldier on the right wearing the hat was the father of a friend of mine.

Nice! Never seen anything like them before. Are they worth anything?

                  Steve,

                      Hi Ade and Steve,
I don't know the real value of these tunics.
Only know they are very sought after by some NZ collectors. The lady owner of the house where was found this was the dry cleaner-taylor of the company and we know the NZ troops tried to camo their uniforms to look like the US ones.
                      Cheers

Hello, a collector friend of mine has a reasonable collection of this stuff. It is very hard to find. Most of it was hand printed.

When you talk about commando units, I have a feeling that we out-fitted some sort of Fijian commando unit with camo tunics. The Fijians were some of the toughest jungle fighters in the Pacific war.

Will contact my friend as soon as I can and find out more for you, Chris

Interesting. Not something I'd seen or heard of before.

Unique unique camo patterns...in the true sense!

Very interesting. It looks a lot like what the US partroopers did before their jump into southern France, excpet the camo's are even nicer done.

                              Interesting camo print.
Looks like the light green dots have been prayed onto the jacket.
                              I like them a lot.
