Thought I would post a few items I have from my Father who served in the R.A.F. during the war and also a few other items that have come from my family.
Top left - a helmet dated 1942 that I 'liberated' recently.
Top right - a helmet dated 1938 that was my Grandfathers (on my Mothers side) unfortunately suffering from some paint loss due to a certain individual who may have worn it and played with it in his younger days...
Bottom right - my Father's ditty bag with his name rank and number and also a signalling mirror which may have come from my Grandfather.
Centre - my Father's sidecap with a black plastic buttons and badge, he isn't sure what happened to the metal one. The cap is dated 1946 so I guess this may have been the second or third cap he was issued with before he left the service.
Bottom left - his beret, this is dated 1944 and he never wore it!
And finally the lump of metal in the bottom centre is a piece of Heinkel or Dornier that he picked up in London following a crash.
If anyone wants any specific shots of any of the items let me know and I'll do my best to post them.
