    HELP! Airborne 3" Mortar

    According to
WW2 Fact Files - Mortars and Rockets
    (Chamberlain and Gander - 1975)

there was a 3 Inch Mortar Mark 5 produced for Airborne troops and Far East Service.....

    1) Was this in common use in 1944 (and specifically, Arnhem) ?

    2) Does anybody have a weight break-down by the components ?

any leads will be greatly appreciated.....

    Thanks !

Taken from 'Weapons of the WWII Tommy' by David B. Gordon.

In the final design, the Mark 5 mortar tube weighed 40.5 pounds, the base plate weighed 34 pounds and the Mark 5 mounting weighed 36 pounds.

        Hope this helps.

        Kind regards,
        Andy
