    Commonwealth dug item

Hi, I found this badge this morning, in a field where previously I found some NZ buttons and british webbing parts.
Not far from the badge, there was an australian coin
Anybody could help with a clear ID?
    Thanks

It is a rank bagde used on the shoulder strap. A single crown like this would be for the rank of Major.

A Crown plus pips = Lt. Col, etc.

Used by British as well as Commonwealth Forces.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks Ade! This was found in a training area where Betfor stationed from 1945 until 1954 (it was the very beginning of the Cold War). I don't think there were many Majors or higher ranks, so i might well ID the original owner!
This morning I was quite amazed, because as you can see, the red cloth is still present, despite being in the ground for 70 years!

Yes it is is neat it survived.

Red is even the correct colour for an infantry unit.

Nice find. I think copper acts as a poison to bacterias, and thus no bacterias got to eat up the red cloth.
