Landed in Normandy in June 1944 it took part in operations from the beachead to the Elbe, moving into Schleswig-Holstein on the final defeat. It formed the Administrative District of the BAOR (British Army of the Rhine), HQ in Plon. Units in 8th Corps included 9th, and 42nd Armoured Divisions.

Army - Commando Training - located in NW Scotland - near Ft William

                "Lochailort"

Often referred to by vets as "Special High Intensity Training" center

If one wants to know the origins of that very old email

Whilst the 8th Corps and the CCG patches seem original I would question the STC Lochailort one. This is a tough and expensive patch to find and have been copied. Somewhere or other I have a couple of similar examples, but doubt that they are genuine. Regards, Clive.

                    Hey:
                    Charlie Chaplins Grenadiers
we had them here in Berlin
seems to be a german made officers patch.

                    Hmmm.........
officially called the Control Comission for Germany.
