This picture was taken more than 20 years ago and the helmet is no longer in my collection. I was wondering if anybody knows the meaning of the 3 bars on the front. Cheers

It may indicate RAF or RN Officer rank.

Weather this is the reason on your helmet or not I don't know, but British Division seniority bars were worn on uniforms below the formation sign & above arm of service strip, three strips/bars would indicate the junior in the brigade, again whether this is the reason in your case.

Look like brigade seniority strips - but what colour were they originally? They don't look as if they were the infantrys red.
