Tin/Box ID needed please!

Hello,

I picked this up on Sunday at a car boot sale,but haven't a clue what it is/was used for,apart from storing a spare valve.

Radio valve perhaps?

Can anyone help with a positive ID and also tell me if it's old or modern please?

Hi Andy, it is WW2. It is for wireless set valves for the No.19 and No.22 wireless sets. (The No.22 set was an airborne set.) It should have an cardboard insert inside to hold the valves and a padded cloth insert to the lid on which should be a printed label saying which valves should be stored in the box. I have one of these on my Jeep.
