A pre 1952 (British) Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers badge.

For some obscure reason I've always liked this badge.

The horse and globe is I believe the insignia of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, predates the badge. The lightning strike is representative of the electrical aspect of the corps.

Sealed 14/8/47 (KK2128), the St Edwards Crown version which replaced it was sealed 9/6/54 in the same metals, 25/9/63 in anodised aluminium.

The chained horse represents controlled horse power.

"Work like a horse at the speed of light, always drop a bo//ock".

          Surely that's a navy motto.

Should that be "work like a sea horse?" I suppose they have bo//ocks for a while, but don't the males turn into females or something like that?

"Rough Engineering Made Easy", another oldie.

"Ruin Everything Mechanical and Electrical" is another fave.
