Opinions please on this Para Helmet

About 15 years ago I bought this Para Helmet, it looked unusual and possibly interesting. It is dated 1944 and made by BMB. It seems to be a converted Dispatch Riders Helmet, however with more detail that I would have expected. I would like to know if it is a reproduction or not. The Number 12 appears pierced in the liner and on the chin cup strap, it is named to a Kennemer.P and has some curious latin words in the liner as well. There is also a cork with a blackened end that is fixed inside the liner on a cord. I am sure that forum members will have opinions on this and welcome your comments. Clive.

                Hi Clive,

To me it just looks like a standard Dispatch Rider Helmet with a replaced chin strap (that doesn't look British anyway).

Going with favourable winds I came and I saw but where did I land, roughly translated.

Yes it is a despatch riders helmet shell and liner, I have never seen such chinstraps before and I doubt they are British. Something made up by a hobby parachutist?

                  Cheers, Luc

I think the burnt cork ( for face camouflage ) rules this out. Perhaps a re-enactor's piece ?
                      Interesting helmet !

                      Regards,
                      Steve

                        Para Helmet

Thank you for your comments so far. I think all agree that it is a converted DR Helmet. What though of the Pierced number 12 in the liner and repeated on the chin cup strap. The fact that it is named I think is also unusual. My feeling is that this has been used for the purpose intended, but by whom? Great translation by the way Luc.
