    Guards Armoured Hero Dies

    A tribute to a Hero who died last week from my local area.

    Bob Dare a Normandy veteran who served in the Coldstream Guards, who later took part in Market Garden with the Guards armoured Division in the advance to Arnhem in Sep/Oct 1944, on the 20th October aged just 20 he suffered severe burns as his Churchill Tank "Jackal" hit a mine which killed two of his crew he and the others managed to escape, any of you who are fimiller with the new Oorlogs Museum in Holland amazinly Bobs very tank is on display! below his a picture printed in the local paper, after so may years they came together of one last time.

    I was in Overloon recently, Jackal had a tiny wooden cross up front, it simply read 'Bob Dare'.
