    Spare screw for a MKII?

    Hi Guys!

Does anyone know where to get a spare "top" screw, preferrably original, for attaching the liner (dated 1939) to a British MKII helmet? Top money paid (within reasonable limits... )

By the way, are there any informative sites about British WW1 & WW2 helmets? (something like www.german-helmets.com)

    Cheers!

Can't help you with the screw. Best thing is to buy a crappy civil defence helmet and take the screw out ( you can always fit a modern screw back into the CD helmet and sell it on again )

WRT a good book - you will need to wait a while. I know that Marcus Cotton has a contract with Schiffer books to write the defnitive Brit helmet volume. He has been researching it for years and is now in the process of collecting the photographs - with a view to publishing next year. It will be the companion volume to Brana R's books on WW1 helmets, and will feature all known WW2 Brit/Commonwealth combat-helmets , including DRs,Paras, Glider-Rgt and RAC helmets. It should be good !

    Regards,
    Steve

Thanks Steve! Yes, that's probably the way to do it. It seems by the way like a lot of MKII:s out there have non-regulation liner fastening bolts some of which do look factory installed...?

I'm looking forward to Mr Cotton's coming book.

      Cheers!
