Chindit Slouch hat insignia

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on a patch that is attached to a slouch hat dated 1942. I can not find any known "chindit" insignia that resembles this insignia. The 12 in roman numerals, I hope, will give insight to the division, regiment or whomever wore the hat. I believe it to be original an d not a reproduced insignia. One other question, could the red backing with the black stripe be representative of the division or group the 12th? I have posted a pic and would appreciate any feedback on this item.

Your badge is for 12th Army. It is original. There's nothing particularly special about this one either.

12th Army was formed 28/5/45 in BUrma & was involved in Liberation of Burma & Malaya, disbanded 1/1/46 & its units were absorbed by Burma Command.

A locally made insignia, worn in a facing pair on sleeves.

Any insignia in the field would have slowed a chindit down! Just joking, but what a group of buggers they must have been.
