            I think the airborne unit was the 2nd batt RUR (if I can remember right) they wore the red beret with the Maid of Erin badge and the title Royal Ulster Rifles going through the middle. I must check it - memory is failing already...

              The Airborne battalion was the 1st battalion.

              Many did wear the RUR badge with the scroll through the middle but those who did were warrant officers and comissioned officers. This explains why most of the real examples encountered today are silver plated.

                Hi Jack. There still seems to be some debate here as to whether their was an O/R version produced, badges with both lugs and sliders appear regularly though I must admit I don't like the look of 95% of them! Adam
