    Royal Ulster Rifles BD Blouse

    Hi Adrian and all

Tony let me use the forum to post this. The owner was a career soldier and his family keep it in a box that was posted in 1952 to an address in England. It was keep inside a bag made from a parachute with the offcut as padding. I just took some snaps at a friends house. A family heirloom not for sale! If I can load the pics that is. Adam

Thank you very much for posting this Adam! This has made my day. It is certainly one of the nicest items I've ever seen! And to have it still in the family is brilliant. Hopefully, it will get passed along for many generations.

Very nice unofficial shoulder titles and private purchase embroidered Pegasus and Airborne strips. Also interesting to see a ribbon for the IGSM, North West Frontier I presume? I understand that this medal combo is relatively common for the 1st RUR.

                Excellent stuff!

                Jack.
P.S. Also relieving to see shoulder title is identical to my one!

                  Adrian and Jack,

I think I phrased my intro badly, unfortunately the tunic is not in my family, its in a friends family with strict instructions not to be disposed of. I have only seen it twice now, it only gets an airing rarely and I took the opportunity to photograph it. The beret is with another member of the family and for all intents and purposes, 'lost' What type of cap badge it had is anyones guess.
A dealer contacted me recently with some items from a house clearance. Turned out they must have belonged to some sort of special forces guy from 1945, if I get a chance I'll post these.
Until recently I collected German helmets but have started collecting wartime only para and marine items, I wonder why.

Hi Guys, I have created a new separate thread for this BD as I felt that it deserved it.

Thanks Jack and Ade. I think I can see some of the pitfalls already on ebay etc. Can anyone recommend a UK dealer?
