Must be pre 1954 being Kings Crown.

Hi Chris, being a post war badge (During the war the Glider Pilot Regt wore the Army Air Corps cap badge) the value will be little, a fiver at best. I am not even 100% sure that badge is original. The fakes very often bear that makers mark. A have a couple of fakes of that one somewhere which I was given by a friend, the late Dougie Preece.

        Cheers, Ade.

An interesting badge that doesn't seem to have been discussed much. Is there anyone out there with a known genuine article that could be posted.

For some reason the slider doesn't sit well with me, as it doesn't on the AAC and Parachute Regiment badges. By the same token I said much the same about the Recce Corps badge and quite rightly crashed and burned when slider examples were shown.

It also appears to be silver soldered rather than brazed (cue Mr. Kitchen ). I always remember a local dealer telling me could have any manufacturers name stamped on the slider.

I'd love to find one that I'm happy with, but rather have one with provenance. With the greatest respect this one's not for me.

I'm pretty sure it is a replica. It turns up far too often to be genuine and it has certain features that are not present on GPR cap badges that I consider genuine.

            Cheers, Luc

Looks a duff one to me, tho' as I always say, I'm not too hot at judging good / bad from photos.

Looks like it's got that nasty pink hue to the brazing though, not a good sign.

The soldering looks a mess hand done as opposed to machine done.John

I'm sure it's a copy too. There is no WW2 GPR cap badge, this design dates from late 40s (I think) when they were reformed. Incidentally, cap badges did not change to Queens crown immediately at the time of the coronation. All new type badges had to be designed and approved, some regiments did not get their new type badges until c1960
