You jest, but if that name and unit is of colonial origin, then it would certainly be worth doing upon confirmation of entitlement. What's the unit? If it's something like SSVF then you might be in for a surprise!

Like other people says you may post the name and the unit, price range are very different between a British, Canadian, Australian, Indian, etc.

Two years ago I had find a Canadian one in mint condition named to RC Armoured corps for around 100$ us, and that was a big bargain!!! I see some canadian one goes for 250$-275$ on dealers sites and in gunshow. Its not a very common medal to find.!
