Help with Rank/Regiment ID WWI

Can anyone help identify the rank and regiment of this WWI soldier? His hat badge looks like a horse with scroll beneath it. The collar has what appears to be Prince of Wales Crown. The shoulder patch may be a wheel or cross in circle. I can't make out the shoulder titles.

He is West Yorks Regt, I would think that he is inter war rather than WWI, he's wearing the sidecap in regimental colours but I don't know what the arm badge is, I'll do some checking. It's similar to the red circle, yellow cross & red rose on black badge of Western Command, but turned at the wrong angle.

HI YA , i agree its the West Yorks regt. and suspect the photo was taken about 1937 /1938 , the badge looks like the cloth trade badge of DRIVER / INSTRUCTOR , regards ,Michael.

Thanks to all for the responses. I think that is the driver badge on the sleeve. I agree with the Ralphie from Christmas Story comparison. The photo came with some POW material, but this fellow would have been in diapers in 1918, if the estimate of 1930's is the correct timeframe.

His arm badge (the wheel) is a pre-WW2 competition badge (for driving)according to p58 British Army Uniforms & Insignia of WW2 by B. Davies. The West Yorks were also known as 'Prince of Wales Own' which explains the 'fleur-de-lys' collar dogs. The invisible shoulder titles probably say 'W.YORKSHIRE' (p38 of same book). The forage cap should be dark blue with Buff crown and peak (the crown & peak shown look a little dark to be Buff to me though). The uniform is 'Jacket & Trousers, Serge, Blue, OR' commonly known as 'blues' (as they are today).They were Sunday Best / Walking Out uniform as worn with the above cap.

I discounted the driver's badge as although that's what it looks like, it's worn with the spokes at the wrong angle, and it's worn on the upper right rather than the lower left arm. Also, it was a skill, later prize, badge for wear in mechanised units prior to the introduction of the mullet.
