I bought my first Sten (a MkIII) a few months ago - it's been "butchered" or rather deactivated to UK new spec' standards but it's still a welcome addition to my collection.

Yes mate, it's the stupid few that spoil it for the rest of us that have no intention whatsover of having a shopping mall shoot-up!.

The finish on your MkII is really nice for a Sten I think, mine's ugly as hell with welding that resembles bird **** .....still love it to bits though

Wish I could post some photos but alas it's packed away due to a house move.

You`re all lucky to own a sten or a other ww2 wapon .
We arn`t alowed to own a automatic wapon (even when it doesnot function anymore)!! We might rob a bank with a stengun

Sorry to hear that Jeroen - are the Dutch allowed to own "model" guns? (these are legal in many european countries)

You could always try to make a dummy gun or replica using just a few original parts - there are plenty of people who sell Sten drawings.

Thats the stupit law overhere. You can own pot or weet , but now dummygun
I own a brengun, but its on a museumpermit in a localmuseum overhere, so cant have it at home on my mannequin.

Unfortunately not, you could still rob a bank with those. The only ones allowed are black powder bolt action rifles of pre-1945 manufacture, butchered of course.

I have several Dutch friends who own deact Stens. However, they are held on a permit.

I think you talk about re-enacters! 15 years back it was easier to get a permit, today its very hard. Strickly when you have one, you have to put the (for example) sten in a locker, and not on a mannequin. (regulations for non-reenacters).
You cant own a stengun at home without a permit, but you can have 5 weetplants in the garden....
