Need help with British boots

Hi,

I bought this pare of boots at militaraia fair last week in Belgium for 50 euro. The seller told me that they are British late war boots; but I doubt that.

I couldn’t find anything on the net regarding old John White boots.

So could anybody help me identify this pair of boots? Or at least tell me were I could find some reference on the internet.

The John White Company used to make the Rolls Royce of desert boots in the days before all the high tech footwear that's available today came to the fore. I used to have a similar pair of DMS suede boots made by them, which were far superior to the Clarkes or Bata brothel creepers. These were made for desert use, not pubs around Aldershot.

I still have a pair of the high leg variant which I still wear from time to time, though when compared to modern desert boots, they're clearly long in the tooth comfort-wise. These boots have a buckle ranger-style top like the French combat boots, but are essentially identical to the classic John White DMS, rubber-soled boot. I understand they were made for a Middle Eastern contract - possibly Oman or Kuwait.

What you have seems to be an earlier leather-soled incarnation. Are they suede? I'd say early 1950s.

Hi, sorry, as you suspect these are not wartime or even military issue. They are British made civilian boots from the 1950's or even early 1960's.
