Aussie stuff

Here's most of my Aussie collection. There are a few pieces I own that aren't pictured (a couple of tunics and slouch hats)... I will share them when they arrive

A 1942 dated tunic named to TX12211 Albert Cashion. He was in allied land forces headquarters but was previously in an artillery unit

A 1942 dated tunic named to H.E Mills. Also included is his 1944 dated slouch hat. H.E Mills was in the RAEME but had previously served in the 2nd cavalry signals. His pants aren't included in the picture.

A 1942 dated tunic that belonged to K.F Wilson of the 2/4th pioneer battalion. Also included is his 1942 dated slouch hat. His pants aren't included in the picture.

An Aussie army Captains tunic. I also have the matching pants but they aren't in the picture. I don't have a clue who owned it. It has its belt but the torso of the mannequin is too large for the belt to fit around.

An officers tunic named to J.W Bott (MM). He was a lighthorseman in the Boer War, in a tunnelling company in WW1 and in the Volunteer Defence corps in WW2.

A WW2 Aussie 1st para btn. officers tunic. The owner was also in the 2/6th independent (commando) sqn.

Here are my slouch hats. They range from pre WW2 to 1952 (11 are from WW2) and most of them are dated.

thanks, Craig. I get most of my items from eBay but found the uniform set to K.F Wilson in an antique store. I bought one of the tunics from a local auction and one of my hats found its way to me through a trade.

Unfortunately items on eBay are only getting more expensive but it's hard to find items that aren't on eBay.

If you ever need any advice about WW2 Aussie items I would be more than happy to help.

Excellent lot, I'm espeacially jealous of the Commando tunic. Here's some of my tunics if your interested. This first tunic belonged to bloke in the 2nd/ 8th feild Amb. His slouch hat is featured in the recent thread on slouch hats.

This one was given to me by a bloke who was in the 12th Light Horse militia reg, then when the LH was disbanded in 42, was made into the 12th armoured car reg. Then that was disbanded and he transfered to a Divisional artillery unit. Interestingly he has modified this tunic by putting two brass belt hooks on it, just like a Light Horse tunic. His name is H. Perram NX- 122636. This tunic is also a rare make, being made in Newcastle 1941.

This next one has a colour patch for the 2nd/ 23rd Batt, but is not named. I also have a slouch hat with the same patch that is featured in the recent thread, that I thought was a medical patch untill just yesterday when I realised it was the same patch as on this tunic.

Next one is a 1943 pattern tunic that is actually dated 1943. So it must have been one of the first one's made. I've had this one for many years and can't remember the name of the people I got it from, but was told this bloke did one tour of duty, came home on leave, went back overseas and was killed in action. He left this tunic behind when he went back. It's not named. The patch is for HQ 3rd Div.

This next one is not named, but has a service number in it, NX-5515. When I looked him up, that number brings up a bloke in the 2nd/ 9th Commando, but the colour patch on the tunic is for 2nd/ 6th Cavalry commando. This man joined up in 39 and was killed in action 1945. The 2nd/ 6th were in Bren carriers in North Africa and I'm guessing that this unit was changed to the 2nd/ 9th later on as the 9th's colour patch is the same as the 6th, only in the T for Tobruk shape. Can anyone confirm?.

This one is an early war Quartermaster Sarg khaki drill tunic. Not named, but all original as it came. Bought it from out of a museum that closed down.
