Nice uniform Gary. About 3 years ago I spotted an original FAA Tunic being offered for £40 at the Beltring show in England. I told a Naval collector friend of mine who grew wings on hearing this. He bought it and needless to say was pretty happy with his purchase.

WOW! 40 quid is a steal and a half! I have found some good stuff at Beltring over the years though so I am not surprised at all.

I don't believe that the tunic in the photo and your tunic are the same.
It is my belief that naval officers had 2 grades of winter tunic one was serge fabric and used for general working (including flying) duties. The other tunic was melton fabric and kept for best dress. The wedding photo suggests that he would have been wearing his melton best dress tunic.
I am keen to know what fabric your tunic is. If it is the serge then the wings will be orginial to that tunic.

P.S.s double breasted Naval tunics should be refered to as reefer jackets.

I've never noticed the letter A before in the 'executive curl' on either RN, RNR or RNVR tunics. I've seen R before (on the post 1952 insignia) but not A. Does this signify FAA?

I believe the 'A' signifies Air Branch. It was dropped when the branch officially became the Fleet Air Arm in 1953.
