    Help needed on RAF tunic

I was going through my collection the other day, and forgot that I had tucked this one away. Can anybody help with nailing down correct period, ribbons, and most of all the initials and # on the tag.

Tunic is overall clean, aside from the holes where someone removed collar brass...there are no moth nips, or holes that should not be there. The wing shown on the tunic was in a pocket, it has snaps in place on reverse; but no corresponding snaps on tunic...hence it is sitting in place for photos. Buttons have kings crown.

I want to be sure exactly of what I have before I start displaying it in the war room. Any help would be appreciated.

looks to be WW2. The medals are the 1939-1945 star, france and germany star and the British war medal (1939-1945)

        Hi Robb,

Were these the only devices (Dental/medical or VR) worn in the lapels of the RAF tunic ??

Most likely VR or VR overT collar devices.

A medical or dental officer wearing wings doesn't quite gel, though not impossible maybe.

I figured it was probably WW2, and as others have politely stated, maybe Medical or Dental. Regarding the wings...they were in a pocket, without actual provisions for attachment on the tunic.

I think that the gentleman I acquired this from stuck them in the pocket of the wrong tunic...as there are no obvious signs of wear on the tunic from wings being worn. And I know he had other RAF groupings in his collection.

Now for my big question...anyone know where I might be able to run down the brass for this tunic?

What brass? What do you want to make this into? Unless you can attribute the tunic you don't know what should be on the collars. Leave it be!!

I have every intention of leaving it be.

I have never doctored a tunic in all the time I have been collecting, and I have no intention to start now.

What I was wondering is that IF...I find it out too be medical, whom would be a reputable source for acquiring said brass?

That and I do not have a nice pair of Collar dogs for an RAF medical, or dental officer in my collection; and that got me to thinking that either way I would like to acquire a set to stick in my collection.

Quite an unusual jacket have never seen one before like it.The official design has a single vent in the back not the double vent hacking jacket type must have been a highly indidual design for this officer.
