    Great thread Brent.

I did not know anything about these hats, which are not seen very often here in the UK. I like the Royal Signals example. How easy are they to obtain in your part of the world are are they expensive?

    Cheers, Ade.

      Hi Ade
They are becomming harder to find in the WW1 era, the WW2 ones turn up every now and then, approx price $80 USd up to $200 for the dated ones. There is one on E-Bay listed as WW1 at the moment, but is in fact WW2 era, the last I looked at was $334 US.

        Nice thread Brent.

I saw this one that was advertised on ebay as WW1 closed at $289:

What do you think, is this one WW1?

          Hi Lee
This one is harder to tell, it does not have the obvious WW2 size lable as the other one had. The only way to tell is from handleing the hat and close inspection of the sweat band. If I went by my gut feeling when I first saw it on E-Bay I would say post WW1 but slightly pre WW2.
          Cheers Brent

            Great caps brent ,
I havent found any lemonsqueezers yet, but they are tops on my wishlist.

P.S, Its great to see the J-Force Lemonsqueezer, I have the Dress Jacket that belonged to the same man. I dont know his name, but he was a Military Medal Winner. I got it at one of Ted Rogers auctions in Wellington a year or two ago.
I saw the Lemonsqueezer there that day but missed it for some reason or another.

Great to see its in safe hands

            Best regards

            Rob

great collection of hats you have there. I'm really impressed.

I'll add my two to the thread but a shadow of yours.

Now to show you what I meant by good side, This one has been under attack from moths more than once and has the flack wounds to show it. (I don't think the photo really shows the full extent of the damage )

                  Its marked N.Z. Military forces 6 3/4

                    Cheers

Hi Rob, I would be interested in seeing your jacket, I may be able to help you out with the name. Only 26 Military medals were issued to NZ Machine Gunners, only a few would have gone on to serve in J-Force. I would love to put a name to my hat.
Nick thanks for sharing your hats, Ive been looking for a nice artillery one, but they seem to command top dollar.
I would also like to see your hats Mike, feel free to post some pics.
Cheers everybody. I might be tempted to start peaked cap thread.
                      Brent
