    RAF Insignia Question

Could someone please explain the difference between an escadron and an escadrille?

Ones Spanish and one is French .Rob.

Escadrille is a unit of European air command, as in France during World War I, typically containing ten or more aircraft.

Thanks, Robb, but I was thinking in terms of squadron crests. I had the impression that there were two types of squadron insignia (escadrille and escadron). Am I way off on that thought?

What are you on about? The RAF has Squadrons. You may find Escadrille on a French or Canadian squadron badge if that's what you mean? Squadron in Spanish is Escuadrilla.
